Certain cultures, especially those with asian descent can actually be extremely sensitive to alcohol, even in small amounts.

"Allergy" has been used as a metaphor for the diverse problems (biologic, mental and spiritual) likely to recur if someone persists in using alcohol after experiencing recurrent problems in the past. If one has hives from nuts, eating nuts will likely again cause hives. If one has an "allergy" to alcohol, alcohol will likely cause physical, emotional and spiritual "hives" (problems) again.
