Requires specialist. Deep cystic acne -- if that is what it is -- requires, and responds well to treatments only available to -- a specialist dermatologist. There will be no easy fix. Please forgive my frankness, and I hope that in a health care system that is often dysfunctional, you find the treatment that should be available to everyone.
Glyciphage. Glyciphage is used to treat diabetes and will not help acne.
What do you advise if I had a cystic acne-type pimple a few months ago and it went away but I can still feel it under the skin?
That's the scar. Leave it alone. Consider using / continuing topical benzoyl peroxide or retinoic acid for a few more years. Best wishes.
See PMD. May have to see derm specialist/ cosmotic doc.
Cysts. Cystic acne appears as red, tender under the skin bumps. See a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.
How many breakouts do you get on accutane? Considering that I have 1 or 2 cystic acne and never had bad skin.
Accutane. About 80% of people who take Accutane (isotretinoin) for severe (cystic) acne will never need to have it again. However, your skin will still make oil which can still lead to pimples. It is not usually as severe as that which required accutane. Some people with really bad acne can actually worsen at first with accutane. Your dermatologist can discuss in detail what to expect.
Seldom have pimple/cystic acne. ONE cystic appeared 1mnth ago, no longer red but big bump remain & it won't come to a head. How do I treat it?
Let it be. Leaving it alone is the best option. You may try warm fomentation. Do not try to pop it as that will only lead to a scar. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco or alcohol in any form. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.
I have cystic acne, but it normally occurs 1 or 2 at a time and comes to a small head. I woke up with 10 zits that are now open craters - help!

I have cystic acne that is clearing up but I also have small bumps under my skin that don't seem to get any better. What can I do to get rid of them?
This is serious. Cystic acne is a terrible personal and professional liability and I hope you are on the medication you need -- most people like you should receive isotretinoin. It is well worth the small risks and moderate discomfort. The little bumps could be any of a host of things; this will be clear when your acne is managed as it should be. Best wishes and congratulations on your courage.
