In brief: Water best choice

Diet soda pop contains corrosive acids such as citric, malic, tartaric carbonic or phosphoric which, can remove calcium from tooth enamel.
Without protection from the dental enamel, the tissue underneath is susceptible to cavities, root canals & even extractions.

In brief: Mixed

Huge scientific debate.
Most, but not all, agree that the artificial sweetener in diet cola is less harmful than sugar, but this may lead you to believe that you can otherwise eat poorly because of the calories you are saving. Better to drink water slightly flavored with some fruit juice like grape, cranberry, or orange. No more than 1/8 of cup.

In brief: Not good

Diet cola is not really good for you, but it is far better for you than regular cola.
Sugar is terrible for your body and teeth. Diet cola is acidic and not good for your teeth either, but not nearly as bad as regular. If you really want to improve your health and jump start your diet, i would recommend drinking water and healthy unsweetened drinks such as green tea.
