In brief: Difficulty chewing.

Partials are no fun.
Dental implants are the treatment of choice. It's well worth the investment.

In brief: Expectations

They typical complaints are "food accumulating" around the partials, changes in speech, difficulty chewing certain foods and the list goes on.
Expect to have them realigned after a couple years also. Implants are by far the treatment of choice and an amazing alternative and should really be considered even though the cost is considerably more. You are worth the investment in implant dentistry!

In brief: Be patient!

It usually takes 3-4 appointments for measurements and try-ins before you take the partials home.
The first few weeks or so will be you getting used to this foreign thing in your mouth...You might develop sore spots where the partial rubs on your gums. Report these asap to the dentist for adjustment. Otherwise, practice, practice, practice...And eventually they'll feel natural.

In brief: Pluses & Minuses

Partial dentures are the least expensive way to replace missing teeth.
They attach to other teeth and are removable. It is much better though more expensive, to place implants which replace one tooth or implant bridges which replace several teeth. Partials are breakable & need to be repaired & replaced often. Most people prefer a more permanent solution. Choose quality implants if possible!

In brief: Replacement teeth

You should have a full complement of teeth especially with the missing ones replaced.
You will also have more hardware in your mouth.
