In brief: Proprioceptive train

Therabands work well to work on strengthening.
Balance boards/bosu balls, etc. Are great for proprioceptive training.

In brief: Ankle rehab

Proprioceptive training is excellent but if you can't get to those equipment you can start off with simple calf raises.
..Going up and down on your toes!
