Is an optometrist allowed to prescribe neurotin or baclofen for ataxia?

Ophthalmology

In brief: Of course not

Only medicines for the eyes.
And if they are allowed, you'd be nuts to take it- ataxia is a serious medical condition that requires the attention of an M.D.- likely a neurologist.

Actually, an unfortunately, in most States optometrists have paid off legislators to allow them to prescribe anything but controlled substances. This is an outrage and a public health menace, but it is the law and who regulates it --- why the Board of Optometry. Always first see an ophthalmologist for eye issues as they are fully trained medical doctors.
