In brief: Possible other cause

I recommend you see a doctor to get check up with blood work.
Drowsiness could be cause by many reasons, such as medication, anemia, sleep problem and blood sugar etc.

In brief: Multiple Reasons

Ironically, people with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes get low blood sugar when their high Insulin levels make blood sugar plummet, particularly following a high carb load.
Low sugars can make you sleepy until you eat more carbs. This is a cycle which can only be interrupted by lifestyle/diet modifications. Also, sleep apnea and other causes need to be ruled out. Please discuss with your doctor.
