PLEASE SEE A DOCTOR. There are several meds that work well together to help your condition.
Pain management. The treatments should be based upon the severity and timecourse of the pain. Acutely, relative rest anti-inflammatories and pain medications can help. When the initial pain is improved then a course of physical therapy is helpful. If the pain does not respond epidural spinal injections may provide good relief. Surgery would be indicated with loss of strength or persistent weakness.
Sciatica. Often, sciatica due to a herniated disc is a self limiting problem; goes away with stretching and flexibility exercises and anti inflammatories. If pain is leading to inability to walk, weakness and goes on for more that a few months, injections can help together with pt. If all else fails, surgery for a single disc herniation has greater than 90% success! Either thru scope or mini open.
