Anesthesia reactions including heart attack, stroke, allergy, etc.
Infections, early about 1% of the time, and possibility of late infections years later. Blood clots and pulmonary embolus. Blood loss, only 5-10% will need transfusion. Persistent pain, swelling, and stiffness. 95% of patients have good to excellent results 3 months after their replacement. Late failure of implant from wear.
