I cough every time I eat bread or crackers chips ect. I have UC and just turned 40. Could I have Celiac disease?

Possible. Coughing as an allergic reaction to gluten is a rare but reported symptom. So, yes you can possibly have Celiac disease, but it needs a total work-up to be a confirmed diagnosis. I'm unable to guess confidently about what UC means, but if it is uterine cancer - your healthcare ought to be carefully coordinated. Don't self-Dx or make major changes w/o advice and consent from the team. Best wishes! Read more...

Irritable bowel syndrome also seems to be aggravated by certain types of carbohydrates so it can mimic celiac disease. See your doc. Get it checked out. Read more...

Celiac disease. My doctor put me eat bread with gluten and took blood sample. Two days fatigue, no sleep. Celiac rash. This is wrong! What can I do?

Time. The reason you had to eat gluten is that the blood tests for (antibodies) gluten intolerance would not be accurate unless one has gluten exposure. The problem would subside in days or weeks after total avoidance of gluten. He could have done a small intestine biopsy to verify the condition but the latter is not without risk and certainly far more costly. Read more...
It IS wrong. Unfortunately, insurance companies won't pay benefits unless the blood work is positive, and it will usually not be positive if you are already under treatment. So celiac patients are forced to become sick once again. The US health care system is horribly dysfunctional. I'm sorry this happened, but your physician is as trapped in it as you are. Read more...
