Shingles is due to reactivation of the herpes zoster virus (chicken pox), & can be spread to people who have not had chickenpox.
Poison oak similar to poison ivy is a contact allergic reaction that certain individuals have or have developed to the oil (urushiol) in the plant. Allergic contact dermatitis is not contagious. However the oil can be spread from clothing/items to other skin areas.
