In brief: See below
Everybody is different and reaction to the medication will vary with the individual.
However, usually, the medication that are given to help with sx of bipolar are mood stabilizer and antidepressant. Also, individual psychotherapy was shown to be helpful in building up sx awareness and working managing stress, etc.

In brief: No one best
Mood stabilizers include lithium, depakote, lamictal, tegretol, trileptal, and sometimes Abilify (aripiprazole) or seroquel.
No one medication is best. Different people react differently to medications and they all have side effects that may be worse for some people than others. Sometimes it may take a trial of more than one to find the best one for you.
