In brief: Radiologist descript
This is a term that radiologist use to describe what they see on the x-ray.
Radiologists do not examine patients. They simply read x-rays. Unfortunately, when the examining doctor cannot figure out what is the cause of the patient's symptoms, h/she sometimes finds it convenient to use these terms. Ddd has never been shown to be directly related to chronic pain. Are you getting it?

Pain Management
In brief: DDD
Degenerative disc disease is a normal progression of aging of your discs.
It is unlikely to be a real disease. By age 65, 97% of people have degeneration within their discs. We still do not have a good understanding of why some percentage of people have pain that accompanies degeneration whereas the vast majority of people do not.
