In brief: Hip groin pain

Hip symptoms are felt in the groin.
But a fracture can occur in a variety of areas in the hip and can be felt in general in different areas. A lot of people complain of pain along the outer pelvis. This is usually not where you feel hip pain and more often bursitis of the hip.

In brief: Hip fracture

Is typically caused by a fall.
A person will have pain in the hip and groin, the painful leg may appear shorter and the leg may be rotated outwards. The outside of the leg may be tender to touch. The pain can be severe and the person probably unable to walk. Hip fracture requires transfer to Hospital and Orthopaedic review for surgical repair. See patient.info/health/hip-fracture for information.
