In brief: Nausea and vomiting
Gastroparesis is a delay in the emptying of the stomach contents into the small intestine.
Patients will feel full early when they begin eating. The condition is seen in diabetes, low thyroid function, viral infections and may occur as a result of certain medications. The diagnosis is confirmed by a nuclear medicine gastric emptying study. Small, multiple, low fat meals are a preferred diet.
