A diagnosis. The only remedy for a chronic painful problem is having a diangnosis by history, exam, perhaps images, and even blood work. Go see you doc.
ORAL MEDS or shot. Finger or 'joint pain' in general can be due to degenerative changes (caused by 'wear & tear', old trauma, or aging). The treatment is usually non-surgical or conservative. Analgesics are recommended for pain such as otc tylenol (acetaminophen) (acetominophen) up to 3000mg/day or otc Aleve 200mg (2 twice a day). A prescription of tramadol may also help. I have also given low volume steroid injections.
