Rabies shots. Most people do nor receive the rabies vaccination prior to animal bites except people with increased exposure due to occupation. The vaccine is given post "suspected" rabies exposure along with the rabies immune globulin, human (hrig) injection. Local wound care should also be initiated.
Depends. A Rabies Vaccine and Immune Globulin shot are given after exposure to an animal bite (or other specific animal injuries). It depends on which type of animal and the circumstances of the bite to determine how much risk there is to the patient. The best thing is to see a doctor as soon as possible after an animal bite.
