And that is if you want to go straight thru w/o taking time off for research or doing volunteer work or pursuing other interests.
It can longer if you want to sub-specialize after finishing the training in anesthesia and find an interest in one of the sub-specialties such as cardiac anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, pain management, etc..

School, 4years residency -in the usa. If in the british system 5-6 yrs after high school(a-levels) followed by an extra 4-5 years thereafter. Expect to sacrifice many pleasures during that time.
