It can decrease gas, but it can cause constipation, black stools, interfere with absorption of meds and nutrients. Good idea is to find out the cause of the flatulence, to make sure there isn't a treatable disorder, e.g. Parasites, celiac sprue, pancreatic disease, ibd, polyps, etc.
