There is soluble. Fiber and there is insoluble fiber. Insoluble fiber is more likely to be roughage in the diet. Soluble fiber will tend to absorb toxic substances in the body and retain them to remove those substances in the intestinal tract. Soluble fiber will lower her cholesterol and lower toxic load. Insoluble fiber will provide the roughage to facilitate bowel movements.
A form of, not same. There are many forms of dietary fiber, including cellulose, hemicellulose, gums, mucilages, pectins, etc. Soluble fiber is a type of dietary fiber that dissolves in water (think oatmeal, oatbran). Insoluble fiber doesn't dissolve in water (think wheat bran). They have different chemical and biologic actions.
Read below. Dietary fiber may include soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber such as oatmeal soaks up fluid and slows down transit in the intestinal tract (good in diarrhea). Insoluble fiber such as the peel of an apple, is poorly digested and draws fluids into the intestinal tract and speeds up transit of stool (good in constipation)
See below. Dietary fiber is consisted of insoluble fiber and soluble fiber. Insoluble fiber- increases the flow of the stool through the intestines and speeds things up. Soluble fiber- as in oatmeal, does the opposite. Soluble fiber is used when you have diarrhea, since it absorbs water and makes the stool firmer. Insoluble fiber is used in constipation to help with bowel movements.
