In brief: Dry skin
Avoid lengthy showers w hot water (warm is better).
Oil-based moisturizers hydrate skin. Moisturize skin often. Hydrate well – especially w water. Eat a nutritious diet. Use gentle soaps or cleansers that are unscented & hypoallergenic. Avoid deodorant soaps or other harsh soaps. Remember that you don’t have to wash entire body w soap every day. Use soap on areas that are dirty or where body

In brief: Moisturize!
Many people who complain of dry skin are exposing their skin to harsh soaps which strip off the fats & oils that seal in moisture, and they never moisturize.
My recommendation is to use a mild soap, avoid long & very hot showers/baths, pat dry the skin lightly after bathing & then seal in the moisture on the skin with a nice moisturizer (creams are better than lotions). See your derm md for help.
