The terms "osteoarthritis" , "osteoarthrosis" and "degenerative joint disease"(djd) are used interchangeably.
They all refer to age-related joint deterioration. Factors which may predispose to DJD include genetic predisposition, previous injury to the affected joint and probably environmental exposure (occupation, etc)."disease" is considered by many to be a misnomer.
