In brief: Only if ....

Long term studies show conclusively that your daily dosage per body weight is the only factor predicting macular / retinal problems.
The safe dose is less than 7.0 mg/kg of body weight. We err on the safe side and give 6.0 mg. Not one of nearly 2200 pts @ the cleveland clinic was seen with eye issues @ this dose. Difficulty with focusing is common early, but goes away.

In brief: Yes

Patients on Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) need to have routine screening for drug induced toxicity that can rarely affect the retina and vision.
The risk of this is correlated to both the quantity and duration of your Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) treatment. Recommendations include vision testing, retinal exam, visual field testing, etc. There are of course many other reasons for blurry vision independent of plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine).
