3+ months. As you know, you are supposed to get depo-provera shots every 3 months. However, the effect of the medication will last longer and typically takes 4-6 months after the last injection for your body to completely clear the drug.
If I want to stop the Depo-Provera shot due to weight gain, how long will the progesterone hormone be in my system?
Depends on dose! Should be out completely within 3mo! That is why they call it depo-provera!
Agree but. I agree completely with the first answer, but remember that normal menstruation/cycling may take much longer to resume: although it's unusual, cases of 1 year to even 2 years have been reported.
I quit Depo-Provera shot after only taking it once and still spotting months after. Could it be a progesterone imbalance?
It's possible.. If its a few months, then it's not uncommon for deposit-provera to affect one's menstrual cycle. However, after several months, it's unlikely to have an effect on menstrual cycle and routine evaluation of intermenstrual spotting will be performed by one's gyn.
I took one shot of Depo-Provera provera (medroxyprogesterone) may 2012. And til this day my periods are not normal. How do I get them back norma. Do u recommend progesterone cream?
Many possibilities. The hormone should have worn off by now so look at your life style to see if stress of some kind is throwing off your periods. It depends what the abnormality is whether Progesterone would be helpful. Look firs a t eating healthy unprocessed foods preferably 6 times a day to keep blood sugar stable, breathe and relax, ( (see kelly mcgonigal) and move through the day.
When I got the Depo-Provera shot, I had a period/spotting for almost 2 months. Is it likely i'll have the same problem with mirena (levonorgestrel)? (both progesterone based)
Depends. Many women start Depo-Provera or Mirena (levonorgestrel) at the wrong part of their cycle, often right before the start of their period. Since a drop in your Progesterone usually triggers the period, starting Progesterone at this time creates an imbalance which results in prolonged bleeding. Make sure to get the Mirena (levonorgestrel) right after your period ends, or ask about adding estrogen for a short time if bleeding persists.
Why do you get esteogen dominance from being in Depo-Provera provera (medroxyprogesterone) if th ingredient is progesterone?
Some confusion. Did your gyn test you and tell you that there is too much estrogen? Most doctors don't believe this theory, since it has no medical research behind it. Most people who promulgate it are self serving. Anyway, the conversation about "estrogen dominance" is usually centered around the symptoms of menopause. Don't worry about this subject, it's not real.
Was wondering if there's a progesterone only birth control similar to Depo-Provera provera (medroxyprogesterone). I smoke can only usethat kind. Thanks?
Micronor (norethindrone) or IUD. Micronor is a Progesterone only form of birth control, but this might be associated with a significant amount of breakthrough bleeding, the other options for you include the Mirena (levonorgestrel) or paraguard iud's or the Nexplanon implant. None of these contain estrogen.
Looking to switch from Depo-Provera shot to skyla, is skyla progestrone and estrogen? I'm very dry due to constant progestrone
Progesterone. Skyla is progesterone only but at a minimal dose. Very little is absorbed throughout your system. Very different than depoprovera.
