In brief: Crawling around
Crawl around on your hands and knees and see things at a child's level.
Remove things that you do not want broken. Look for sharp corners on furniture etc and find ways to protect them. Consider a lock on the tv/stereo cabinet f it is at child eye level. Plug electrical outlets. Make sure there are not areas your child can get trapped behind things. Life to the baby is an adventure.

In brief: Vigilant parents
There are a lot of products for "baby proofing" the house.
Some, like stairs guards, are important in certain situations, but common sense and vigilant parents are the most important.
