Do you start with low carb and high protein if trying to get better cholesterol numbers?

In brief: Depends
To improve cholesterol, it is eating lean protein (not fatty parts) and low glycemic.
Ldl is increased with alot of animal fat (meat and dairy sources) as well as refined carbs. Triglycerides are definitely related to carbs and can be improved using fish oil 2 grams. Hdl is much harder but Niacin is worth a shot, changing to a plant based diet and cardio as well as hrt if you are a candidate.
