Both fats and carbs cause cholesterol to increase so eating plant based diet, that is low glycemic with lean protein is the best way to improve cholesterol.
Always make sure you have protein (beans/legumes/lentisl/seeds/nuts/fish/poultry) with a good carb like fruit or whole grains in small amounts. Eat less and exericse more, take fish oil & plant sterols to help improve the cholesterol.
