In brief: High PTH low ca

This condition is due to your gastric bypass.
Calcium and vitamin D are absorbed in the small bowel. This is now bypassed. The PTH is elevated due to low calcium absorption and likely low vitamin D. This can be corrected medically, but in rare cases the bypass had to be reversed to correct the condition when it resulted in severe hypocalcemia.

In brief: Vitamin D

You have difficulty absorbing vitamin d following gastric bypass.
If you can't absorb vitamin d then your calcium will drop. You need to maintain a range of calcium in blood stream. Pth will go up to help put more calcium into blood by taking it from bone. It also makes kidneys activate vitamin d from storage. Your storage is low. Please talk treatment with your doctor. This could be dangerous.

In brief: You need calcium

Don't know if your surgery hindered your ability to absorb calcium/vitamin d, but it sounds like you are deficient.
Pth hormone acts by increasing calcium levels in the blood, so this appears to be high as a response to your low calcium. If it were a PTH problem, your calcium levels would be abnormally elevated along with the PTH level. Also, calcium & vitamin d absorption are related.

In brief: Pth

The parathyroid level is supposed to be high if your calcium is low.
That tells your body to put more calcium in your blood - from absorption and bones. The low calcium may be related to your gastric bypass. See an endocrinologist soon!
