What is the dosage of trifluridine for eyes, and when can you safely stop using the drops?

Only for infection. Trifluridine (viroptic) is usually used for herpetic viral infections of the eye. The usual dosage is one drop 8-9x/day for 1 week and then tapering the medication down for the 2nd week. Chronic and prolonged usage of this medication may cause corneal toxicity so the patient should be monitored carefully during treatment. Your doc should be able to see the improvement and then have you stop.
