Photophobia occurs in about 80% of migraines and resolves when the headache goes away.
Prompt treatment of the migraine will relieve the light sensitivity. If over the counter medication does not work, your doctor may prescribe a migraine medication called a triptan such as imitrex, maxalt, relpax, (eletriptan) etc.
