Obstetrics & Gynecology - Urogynecology
In brief: Many causes
Fecal incontinence can be caused by stool moving too quickly through the colon such as with diarrhea.
Or from an inability to "hold it " or from leakage of mucous/liquid stool. Treatments include dietary changes, medication, physical therapy, nerve stimulation and surgery. A urogynecologist, colorectal surgeon or gastroenterologist can perform an evaluation.
