In brief: With x-ray

Lying on an x-ray table, a speculum is inserted into the vagina.
Cervix is cleansed with antiseptic. An x-ray apparatus is placed over the pelvis. A syringe with contrast material ("dye" seen under x-ray) is attached to a thin catheter which is inserted into the cervix. Under fluoroscopy, the contrast is pushed into the uterus and fallopian tubes and x-ray pictures are taken.
