Women: insulin resistance--what is that?

In brief: Diet, nutrition

When we consume too many high glycemic foods too much Insulin is released into the blood stream. This eventually leads to Insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and weight gain.
The type 2 diabetes epidemic is a direct result of this. Most people do not understand that diet foods and drinks and sugar free products are loaded with artificial sweeteners which are much more of a problem!

In brief: Diminshed response

To insulin.
People with type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetics, and those with metabolic syndrome have inadequate response to Insulin and tend to have elevated blood glucose. This can be reversed to a good extent by reducing carbohydrate intake, weight loss and increase in physical activity.
