Gynecology
In brief: Vestibulitis
A perineoplasty is the repair of the perineum, or opening of the vagina.
It is usually done for either vestibulitis which is inflammed glands at the opening of the vagina that cause painful intercourse. During this procedure the skin that includes the inflammed glands is excised and the incision is closed. A perineoplasty can also be done to tighten the vagina after damage from childbirth.
