It depends on the hospital course.
If the person was admitted for a condition and treated but worsened during the hospitalization to the point that death was imminent, comfort care or hospice care may occur in the hospital. However, most hospitals will try and transfer people home or to a skilled nursing facility with hospice care if the person has a little longer to live.
