Pediatrics

In brief: Depends on pill

Regular OC's do not, they work by preventing the body from releasing eggs.
No eggs around =no pregnancy. Some of the morning after pills make the mucus in the womb change so it is not favorable for a fertilized egg to implant. Depending on what you call an abortion this may be true for you. If you think life starts at conception, yes. However as many as 1/3 of conceptions shed without implanting.

In brief: No

The pill primarily works by preventing ovulation so that an embryo never forms.
It also works by thickening cervical mucous making it hostile to sperm so even if an ovulation occurred, the sperm could not reach the egg to fertilize it. By preventing unwanted or unhealthy pregnancies, the pill helps to prevent abortion.
