Once the cause of the traction alopecia is removed the hair will usually grow back as long as it has not been going on for too long.
Unfortunately, chronic traction alopecia can result in permanent hairloss in the area. Traction alopecia is not one of the conditions of hairloss that spreads unless the source of traction is spreading to other areas of the scalp.
