In brief: Perhaps
Iodnie is the center of the thyroid molecule.
If you are iodine deficient to the point it has affected your thyroid and then resolving that deficiency by improving thyroid function may appear as faster metabolism.....Which is now back to normal.

In brief: No
The body rather your thyroid gland needs some iodine to make thyroid hormone but excess of iodine can also shut down the thyroid gland and not to mention then can cause thyroid dysfunction.
It certqinly does not increase the metabolism . Some patients who have hyperactive thyroid if given high iodine like IV contrast can potentially go into hyperthyroid crisis.
