I have a sore swollen lymph node & a sore throat. Do I have to go to the doctor? I think i'll be fine by the time they give me an appointment anyway
No. You may just have a viral sore throat. Try salt water gargles an over the counter medication for pain like ibuprofen. You'll get better on your own. However you could have strep throat so if you also have fever, headache no cough or nasal congestion. You should be seen by a doctor. If your doctor can't get you in go to an urgent care but not the emergency room.
No. If sore throat and swollen lymph node resolve in less that 10 days probably not anything to worry about.
Left tonsil bigger by 50% than other for atleast a year, doesn't hurt, no swollen lymph nodes ENT just looked at it ordered no tests said I was fine, but scared on tonsil ca. Sometimes sore throat.?
Tonsils. If you have been examined by an ENT doctor and told not to worry would rely upon this. If you are still uncertain would request a second opinion from another ENT doctor. If still not satisfied then would consider psychiatric therapy.
Large tonsil. One tonsil may be larger than the other I t is considered a normal variant.
I've had a swollen lymph node on one side of my neck for months, and now I have a sore throat only on that same side. What is going on?
Need to be checked. Although this is usually nothing to worry about, it could be an infection your doctor can treat. However, there's really no way to be 100% sure without someone performing a good exam. Don't spend any more time wondering on this. Please get it checked.
I have recently got over a sore throat however I have one swollen lymph node on my neck, . Is this serious?
Cervical lymph node. Single cervical lymph node need not to be worrisome they are common after acute infection and it will subside shortly if not do not take any action unless you feel more lymph nodes growing nearby or it gets bigger and bigger or you get additional symptoms such as fevers and sweating.
Probably not. Neck nodes can enlarge during a cold. It takes them several weeks to slowly regress. Keep an eye on it for a month or two. If it gets any larger than it is now, you need to have an examination from your doctor to make sure the node is not enlarging due to cancer. But there is no immediate concerns.
Monitoring Centers. Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well.
Some options. Try saltwater gargles. Mix tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w Aloe Vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey & a small amt of lemon juice helps.
Sore throat. Swollen gland or adenopathy indicates an infection on that side. Ln's. Are present to filter our blood from bacteria or virus's. You should let your dr know what is going on.
Family practice. Enlarged lymph node on same side as an infection means it is trying to filter out your system. You may have strep throat or possibly a virus which can cause an enlargement see your dr.
