In brief: RICE

Rest, ice, compress, and elevate.
If symptoms show no improvement see a specialist for evaluation of the ligaments of the ankle and of the bones that make up the ankle itself.

Apply ice to ankle for 20 min on 20 min off.
Through our the day. Elevate ankle as much as possible. Apply an ace wrap to ankle. And take some over the counter anti. Inflammatories. I also recommend you see your doctor to xrays your foot and ankle to make sure you didn't sustain a fracture.

In brief: Rest-Ice-Elevation

If your ankle is bruised and swollen you should get off it and elevate your foot and apply ice packs to the ankle.
As the swelling goes down a ankle support can help. If you can not weight bear you should see a physician and get it x-rayed and evaluated.
