How long to develop optic atrophy after avulsion of optic nerve?

Optic atrophy. Usually takes 4 to 8 weeks for atrophy to develop after any form of optic nerve injury.
It depends. If there is a total avulsion of the optic nerve then the vision is nlp (no light perception) and the atrophy will occur within a few weeks. If the avulsion is partial them the atrophy may be restricted to the fibers that were severed.
