In brief: Pregnancy first !!
Must rule out pregnancy first ! if no menses prior (called primary amenorrhea) abve age 15yrs, then anatomical causes also must be considered (lack of uterus, blood flow blockage, etc).
If menses took place prior (called secondary amenorrhea) then hormonal causes such as elevated prolactin, testosterone or low thyroid should be considered. Significant weight loss also possible. Talk with your pcp.

The most common cause of secondary amenorrhea, periods stop after a previous history of periods, is stress, physical (illness, injury, poor nutrition, weight loss, too much exercise, and others,) and emotional stress.

In brief: Thanks for asking!
Amenorrhea is absence of menses.
Causes are many such as genetic, endocrine, structural, environmental, psychological and most of all pregnancy must be ruled out.
