In brief: Very rarely

Hemangiomas are benign tumors consisting of small blood vessels.
They usually do not cause any pain unless they are very large (> 6 cm), in which case they are prone to rupture. They have a very characteristic appearance on ct scan; biopsy is not indicated due to the risk of bleeding from these tumors.
