I found out today at the eye doctor that I have an inflamed cornea and irritated eye. Should I wear contact lenses?

Use glasses. I would ask your eye doctor but since contact lenses are essentially foreign bodies, i wouldn't irritate your eyes further and i would stick with glasses for now.
NO. Don't put them back in until you are healed, you could turn an irritation into an ulcer. Wear your glasses.
