In brief: Periodic rest
First, get a thorough eye exam to ensure there is no pathology or refractive error (i.
e. Need glasses). Studies have shown that automatic blinking rates decrease with computer use. Some tips include: periodic rest, an ergonomic sitting and looking setup, extra blinking and or artificial tears as necessary.

Dont forget about accomadative spasm, this is prevelent in college aged patients. These patients often have episodes of blurring and are mistreated as dry eye patient. A period of rest for 30 seconds to 1 minute relaxing the focus by lookin out a window after 30 minutes of computer use helps this. Somtime Dilute dilateing drops must be prescribed. A check for farsightedness is reccomended.
