How long does it take to recover with pleuritis?

In brief: Several weeks
Depending on the cause, the pain may disappear more slowly or more quickly.
Pleurisy is usually a sign of infection of the lining of the lung between the lung and the wall of the chest. If it is a bacterial germ that is doing it, then an antibiotic will speed the improvement. If there is pneumonia (with cough and likely fever), the treatment may take longer as well.
