Unlikely. The most common arthritis is osteoarthritis. There can be a hereditary component but it is not an auto immune disease.
Father has psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, I also have joint pain. Does that mean an autoimmune disease will pass on to my son as well?
Not 100% While your son will have an increased chance, it is not for certain he will have an autoimmune disorder. He has a different mother with different genetics as do you and your father.
Is polymyositis rheumatica an autoimmune disease? My dad has this and I have a sytemic autoimmune connective tissue disease as well. Genetic?
Yes. Pmr is likely an autoimmune disease but there is no significant evidence that it can be inherited.
My father in law was recently diagnosed with a meningioma as well as sjogren's syndrome. Is there a link between meningiomas and autoimmune diseases?
Not that we know of. First hope your father-in-law gets well, no direct association or causation has been confirmed as of yet, neurosurgeons and rheumatologists would work together in his best interest, good luck.
Here is my take. I do not know statistics regarding non-neurological disorders, but at least in ms, an autoimmune disease, the risk of mother passing to child is no more than 3-5%. So, unlikely that you have a high risk. Ask your mom's doctor to give you the statistics regarding her specifics.
Depends. It really depends on the autoimmune disease you are referring to.
No. I am not aware of such a link.
Many cause arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and ankylosing spondylitis commonly cause arthritis. The joints are the target of many autoimmune diseases.
Rheumatoid. Arthritis can be a manifestation of many auto immune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, vasculitis.
Systemic, Local. Autoimmune arthritis diseases can include inflammation of the joints, connective and soft tissues as well as involvement any part of the body. Osteoarthritis, is caused by degeneration of the joints and localized to certain part of the body. The from arthritis is gradual have to do with activity, the other the onset could be sudden and involve many areas of the body.
