In brief: Styes are infected…

…oil glands in the margin of eyelid (like pimples).
Do not squeeze them; it can worsen infection. Apply warm compresses several times a day to bring stye to head so it will open on its own & drain. More involved sties may require topical antibiotics or incision & removal of contents by doctor. Wash hands thoroughly after working around sties. Drainage on pillowcase/washcloth should be sterilized.

Wrap a teaspoon with some bandage to make a pad dip this in boiling water and let him hold the pad near the stye so that the steam from the pad rises over the stye.
Be careful that the pad does not touch the stye.
