I perform hsg's on all of my own patients, and have been doing so (with water based contrast) for over 20 yrs.
Many of my patients conceived right after the hsg was done!

Old data (from the 1970's and 80's showed an increased pregnancy rate with hsg.
This though was using the old oil based dye that is not used any more. There were many theories about the oil creating a favorable immune environment in the uterus and tubes. I think overall today we think of hsg as neutral on increasing or decreasing pregnancy rates.
