In brief: Possibly.
Gestational diabetes usually goes away on its own after delivery.
However, it is possible that women with gestational diabetes may continue to have problems with Insulin resistance after their pregnancy, and are at higher risk of going on to develop diabetes. They are also more likely to have gestational diabetes in subsequent pregnancies.

Gestational diabetes does indicate that a person has insulin resistence state. That means when ever there is lack of activity or weight increase blood sugar tend to go high because glocose consupmtion becomes defective. Dieabetes could be prevented for a long times before it comes on the surface by regular exercise and weight reduction.
